Sam Norris

Managing Director

Sam brings nearly two decades of experience in the specialist property finance industry to the table as the founder and MD of Grand Union Finance. Sam’s relaxed and personable approach has been described as “refreshing” in an industry so used to suits and ties.

Matt Hunt

Specialist Finance Broker

With over 10 years of experience in financial services, having worked in various roles including personal banking, protection adviser, financial adviser, and of course, mortgages and finance broker, Matt is a bit of a powerhouse. His qualifications include a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, Certificate in Mortgage Advice, and Certificate in Equity Release… so there really isn’t much Matt doesn’t know!

Over the years, Sam has worked on numerous complex property projects, from large scale ground up developments, commercial conversions and commercial property acquisitions. There is very little in the way of complex property projects, that Sam doesn’t know how to fund!

“Having worked at many other brokerages in my career, I love the fact we have built somewhere at Grand Union Finance where team members feel valued. We put a lot of emphasis on ensuring everyone at Grand Union Finance (including our clients!) have a voice and an input in what we do and how we grow.”

Fun Fact

Sam is a massive Saracens Rugby fan, and even contributes to the Saracens Podcast – The Fezcast, and one day has aspirations to be on the board at the club!

Matt specialises in mortgages and bridging finance, offering expert guidance to help clients with these complex areas of finance. If it’s a complex mortgage you are after, be it buy to let, a limited company ownership, HMO, Serviced Accommodation or Social Housing, Matt is your man!

“I love running ultramarathons and most recently completed a 100-mile race. I’ve also lived in New Zealand and, I was once an ice cream man who served Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond!”

Val is a bridging and development finance whizz, working with those completely new to property, as well as experienced “old hands”. He has great experience working with clients based all over the world, with most of his clients being professional property investors, using an array of complex company structures. From BTL’s, to HMO conversions, and ground up developments, Val is your guy!

“I love being able to open my client’s portfolio spreadsheet and see them grow. It’s an amazing feeling especially when the client uses bridging finance with us, and we safely exit on to a term loan.”

“Any chance I get you will find me abroad, I am pretty well travelled but my favourite destination so far is Thailand.”

Area of Expertise

Nikeeta is a master problem solver, which makes her an amazing case manager. She acts as our in house underwriter, by making sure applications, and the documents we send to them, are all “lender ready!”. She is also a super-sleuth when it comes to providing comprehensive origin of funds for lenders, hunting down where every penny comes from. Her bubbly personality also means our clients here at Grand Union Finance love Nikeeta.

Favourite Part of Your Job

“My favourite part of the job is definitely chatting and interacting with our clients. We are so lucky that everyone we work with is so nice, so I love speaking with them! I must admit I do also get a huge amount of satisfaction when I run into a tricky situation, or application, and manage to overcome obstacles to get them completed. I guess you could say I love being a bit of a problem solver!”

“Two things stand out above everything and they are, the fact that we are constantly evolving and trying to improve what we do, to make life easier for our customers, I love being part of that process, and of course the people. Kim has exceptional organisational skills and her attention to detail is quite frankly, astonishing! Kim has to be on her toes throughout the day to ably jump in to support the team in anything from technical issues, to client on-boarding.
